Rachel's Barium Enema

Rachel wakes up with abdominal pain and phones her doctor to make an appointment. Fortunately, she can be seen that afternoon and she is instructed to give herself a preliminary cleansing enema before the exam. Rachel undresses in her bedroom and steps into the bathroom, where she gives herself an enema using a long douche nozzle.

At the doctor's office, Rachel is given a thorough physical examination, including a pelvic exam, having her temperature taken rectally, and a breast exam. The doctor concludes that he needs to do a thorough examination of her colon, including a proctoscope and a barium enema.

Dr. Brandon administers two preliminary cleansing enemas and then has Rachel bend over the proctologic exam table and inserts the proctoscope deep into her rectum. Next, the barium enema is administered. An inflatable nozzle is inserted into Rachel's rectum and two quarts of the white liquid flow into Rachel's bottom before she goes into the X-ray room.
